Description
This CPD module accredited by City and Guilds/NPTC is designed for individuals looking to refresh or update their skills and knowledge in Using a Chainsaw from Rope and Harness. The course will cover correct work positioning to be able to use a chainsaw safely and effectively in the canopy of a tree, using a variety of different cutting techniques. This course is part refresher, part assessment. Candidates who meet a minimum score will be awarded a Digital Credential to show their skills and knowledge are up to industry standards.

Who's this course for?
Suitable for people working in Forestry, Arboriculture, Estate Management, Woodland, Horticulture, Agriculture, Local Authority, Ecology, Conservation.
This course is for candidates over 16 years old.
Due to the physical nature of this course, a minimum level of fitness is required, along with a good head for heights.

Do I need previous Qualification or Experience?
You must hold a certificate of competence in Using a Chainsaw from Rope and Harness.

What will be covered in the course?

Understanding legislation and industry guides relevant for working at height and carrying out work in trees.

Inspection of equipment used for working at height.

Carrying out a visual tree assessment.

Identify Personal Protective Equipment required for tree climbing.

How to attach a chainsaw to be hauled in to the tree.

Use of a top handle chainsaw.

Techniques used for removing branches.

Using equipment to aid with branch removal

Identify where to place final pruning cut to minimise damage to the tree

What equipment will I need?

PPE needs to be in good order and meets the minimum standards. Helmet with chin strap, ear and eye protection (If you are unsure please contact us at info@practicalarb.co.uk).

Chainsaw boots.

Type C chainsaw trousers.

Clothing suitable for time of year.
Climbing equipment need to have an in date LOLER certificate or, if purchased with in a six-month period, receipts. LOLER certificate or receipts must cover the period of training and assessment. Climbing equipment must be in good order and meet minimum standards (If you are unsure, please contact us at info@practicalarb.co.uk). Minimum equipment required:
